도시에 조용히 밤이 내리면 

거리에 불이 하나둘씩 켜지기 시작하고, 

낮과는 전혀 다른 곳으로 변화하기 시작한다. 

거리에 어둠이 짙게 깔리기 시작하면, 

도시에서 황급히 벗어나려는 이들과 

이 시간이 되면 도시로 몰려드는 이들로 

갑자기 북적대기 시작한다. 

나도 그 무리에 끼어서 서둘러 집으로 향하다가 

문득 이 도시의 밤을 도저히 이해할 수 없다는 생각을 해본다. 

화려한 불빛으로 밝혀진 도시의 밤은 

약간의 들뜨임이 있는 동시에 

왠지 모를 외로움이 느껴진다.  

그런데 나는 도시의 이런 상반된 모습을 보며 

왜 갑자기 마치 편안한 내 집에 온 것처럼

마음이 편안하고 차분해지는지 도통 알 수가 없다…
